Shizuoka City has been a city of craftsmanship since the Edo period (1603-1868), and has refined its craftsmanship skills for centuries. Dive into the world of traditional crafts, and experience one of Shizuoka’s traditional crafts Suruga Take Sensuji Zaiku (Suruga Bamboo Ware) which crafts bamboo delicately into bamboo products.
In this experience, you will visit Takumi Inn, a facility that exhibits traditional crafts of Shizuoka City. Here, you will learn about the different traditional crafts that have been passed down since the 15th century.
You will also participate in a hands on experience using bamboo to make small containers, coasters, wind chime etc. by assembling thin bamboo strips. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with the craft, there is a skilled craftsman who will help you through the process!
After the experience, you will have free time to enjoy the facility. You can enjoy local sweets at the cafe, or search for your perfect souvenir to take home.
