This tour provides a basis to build your own perfect experience across Japan.
It takes you through Japan’s must-see destinations, offering an ideal introduction whether you’re just starting your stay or exploring the country for the first time.

The journey begins in Tokyo, where tradition and technology beautifully intertwine. Explore Shibuya’s iconic scramble crossing and neon-lit streets, wander through the tranquil Meiji Jingu, visit Senso-ji – Tokyo’s oldest temple and then dive into the lively bar scene in Shinjuku’s yokocho alleys.

After soaking in the energy of the city, embark on a scenic 2.5-hour Shinkansen ride to Kanazawa, a city that offers a perfect blend of modernity and traditional culture. Enjoy one of Japan’s famous markets, try gold leaf ice-cream and the beauty of Kenrouken Gardens. 

Next, travel to Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can immerse yourself in the history and its traditional way of life.

Then, visit Takayama and stroll through its charming shotengai (local shopping street) to experience the city’s warm atmosphere.

In Kyoto, tick off another bucket list location as you explore through the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine with its stunning vermilion torii gates. Wander the tranquil Arashiyama bamboo forest, and discover the beauty of the city’s ancient temples.

Take a day trip to Nara, where you’ll encounter the Great Buddha and the sacred deer of Nara Park. They may approach you for “shika senbei,” special crackers just for the deer!.

Continue to Hiroshima, where you’ll visit the Peace Memorial Park, the A-Bomb Dome and take a ferry to Miyajima to see the famous torii gate that appears to float on the water at high tide.

Heading back via bullet train, visit Himeji Castle and area which are one of 5 of Japan’s most iconic and preserved castles.

Rounding out the tour enjoy the vibrant powerhouse of Osaka. Enjoy the bright neon and energetic city life while devouring its world famous and tasty takoyaki!

Day 1 : Tokyo

Breakdown of Day1

Start the day in the tranquil forested paths of Meiji Jingu Shrine, offering a peaceful blessing to begin your journey. Step into the vibrant world of Harajuku, with its playful fashion and quirky sweets, before strolling down the sophisticated Omotesando Avenue, where Tokyo’s modern elegance shines. In the afternoon, face the famous crowds at Shibuya Crossing, then head to historic Asakusa to explore Senso-ji Temple and the charm of old Tokyo. Cap off the evening with a bar-hopping adventure through the lantern-lit alleys of Shinjuku Yokocho, tasting street-style yakitori and soaking up Tokyo’s electric nightlife.

Day 2 : Lake Kawaguchi & Mt. Fuji

Breakdown of Day2

Leave Tokyo by scenic train (2.5hrs) in the morning and arrive at the foot of Mt. Fuji, where the day begins in the Oshino Hakkai village. Stroll along peaceful paths, explore traditional thatched-roof houses, and admire the crystal-clear ponds fed by melted snow from Mt. Fuji, creating serene reflections of the mountain.
Then board a boat for a relaxing cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, taking in the stunning views and the reflection of Mt. Fuji on the lake’s surface. Finish at Oishi Park, where you can walk the lakeside path, sit among seasonal flowers, and take in the panoramic views before returning to Tokyo via the same train in the evening.

Day 3 : Kanazawa

Breakdown of Day3

Depart Tokyo in the morning on the bullet train shinkansen and glide across the countryside to Kanazawa Station. After arrival, step back in time in the Higashi-Chaya District, a beautifully preserved geisha district. Wander the streets lined with traditional wooden houses, stop into tea houses and boutiques, and experience the traditional tea culture with a cup of matcha or a geisha performance.

Then take a short walk to Kenrokuen Garden. Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the grounds where ponds, bridges, and seasonal flowers create a harmonious landscape. Find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the calming atmosphere and maybe even indulge in gold leaf ice-cream.

End the day at Omicho Market, exploring the winding aisles, sampling fresh seafood, and soaking in the lively atmosphere of Kanazawa’s kitchen.

Day 4 : Shirakawa-go & Takayama

Breakdown of Day4

Travel from Kanazawa into the mountains to visit the UNESCO heritage site of Shirakawa-go village. Traditional “gassho-zukuri” houses with thatched roofs stand like hands in prayer. Walk through the fairytale-like landscape, enter homes converted into museums, and immerse yourself in the sounds of the river and the natural surrounding beauty.

From Shirakawa-go continue on to Takayama Old Town, where narrow streets and wooden buildings bring Japan’s past to life. Browse the quaint shops, see local produce and handmade goods, and try Hida beef for a taste of regional cuisine.

In the evening, settle into a ryokan stay in Takayama, sleeping on tatami mats, relaxing in an onsen hot spring, and savoring a Kaiseki dinner prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

Day 5 : Takayama

Breakdown of Day5

Start the day at the Takayama Morning Market, one of Japan’s oldest, where you can explore stalls filled with fresh produce, handmade goods, and local specialties. Pick up souvenirs and crafts while soaking in the lively atmosphere and chat with friendly vendors.

Then travel by train to Kyoto and head to Kiyomizu Temple, where you can walk through the temple grounds, drink from the Otowa Waterfall for health and longevity, and take in panoramic views of the city from the large wooden platform.

As evening falls, wander the lantern-lit streets of Gion Street, Kyoto’s iconic geisha district, where traditional wooden machiya houses set the scene. You might spot a geisha or maiko!

Day 6 : Kyoto

Breakdown of Day6

Begin with a walk through the thousands of vermilion torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine, one of Japan’s most famous locations. Follow the path up Mount Inari through forests, gates and past smaller shrines. 

Next, visit the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, where you can stroll among tall bamboo stalks, take photos, or ride a rickshaw.  From Arahiyama walk and explore the nearby Tenryuji Temple and cross the Togetsukyo Bridge over the Hozu River.

In the afternoon, join traditional Cultural Experiences like trying on a kimono and taking part in a Japanese tea ceremony. You can also try calligraphy or workshops with local artisans.

Finish the day at Nishiki Market, a busy street with over 100 food stalls and shops, where you can taste local dishes like yudofu and shop for souvenirs such as matcha tea and handmade crafts.

End with a stop at Kinkaku-ji Temple, admiring the gold-covered pavilion reflected in the garden pond.

Day 7 : Nara

Breakdown of Day7

The day kicks off with a quick train ride to Nara and a visit to Todaiji Temple. It is home to the world’s largest bronze Buddha statue and an impressive ancient Japanese architecture. After exploring the grand temple and its peaceful gardens, visit Kasuga Taisha Shrine, famous for hundreds of stone and bronze lanterns along quiet forest paths.

Finally, spend time in Nara Park, where friendly deer roam freely. Walk the park trails, feed the deer special crackers, and enjoy views of Todaiji Temple framed by natural surroundings.

Day 8 : Hiroshima
  • Itsukushima Shrine
  • Peace Memorial Park and Museum
  • Miyajima Shopping Street

Breakdown of Day8

In the morning hop onto the bullet train and head towards Hiroshima
From there its time to enjoy the beauty of Hiroshima from the water. Take a short ferry to Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island and admire the famous floating torii gate at high tide.
Walk through the shrine’s red halls and explore the island, including the five-story pagoda and scenic trails up Mount Misen.

Before heading back, stroll along Miyajima Shopping Street to try local snacks and browse souvenirs. We highly recommend Momiji Manju!

Back on the mainland, visit Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Walk the along the river paths, see memorials like the A-Bomb Dome, and learn powerful stories inside the museum.

End the day with a hands-on Okonomiyaki Dinner, cooking your own Hiroshima-style layered pancake on a hot plate for a fun, memorable meal.

Day 9 : Himeji & Osaka

Breakdown of Day9

Making our way back East we board the bullet train bound for Osaka. On the way we stop to explore Himeji Castle, one of Japan’s best-preserved original castles. Walk through wooden corridors, steep staircases, and rooms once used by samurai. Discover hidden doors and defensive features, then climb to the top floor for wide city views and imagine the castle’s stronghold past.

Continuing on we arrive in our final city of Osaka. wander through Dotonbori, a lively entertainment and food district. Bright signs light up the canal as you try local street foods like takoyaki and Osaka style okonomiyaki. Snap a photo with the famous Glico running man and soak up the energetic atmosphere.

Ride to the top of Tsutenkaku Tower for a full city view blending old and new Osaka.

Step into Shinsekai to experience a nostalgic side of Osaka. Colorful streets filled with flashing signs and glowing lanterns set the mood. Grab crispy kushikatsu at a standing counter, just like the locals do. 

Day 10 : Osaka

Breakdown of Day10

Approach Osaka Castle through its wide park paths lined with trees, crossing the moat toward its massive stone base. Inside, explore floors of exhibits telling the castle’s story of battles and rebuilds. At the top, step out onto the viewing deck for open views of the city around you.

Head into Kuromon Market and walk the covered arcade filled with seafood stalls, fruit stands, and sizzling street food. Try freshly grilled scallops, wagyu beef skewers, or seasonal fruit. Vendors often offer samples with friendly smiles, making it a great place to snack and experience Osaka’s food culture up close. 

No journey is complete without those final souvenirs and last minute shopping.
Walk through Shinsaibashi’s long covered arcade, packed with shops from big brands to quirky locals. Continue toward Namba, where department stores, fashion outlets, and underground walkways connect into one busy area. Browse for unique items or stop for a quick bite between shops.
