Miyajima is famous for its floating torii gate and deer 🦌
—but don’t miss Senjokaku.

Sitting up on the hill, this open wooden hall offers a beautiful panoramic view of Miyajima and the Seto Inland Sea 🌊

Locals often come here to sit on the cool wooden floor, stretch out their tired legs, and take a quiet break — a simple pleasure after the climb.

✨ Why is it called Senjokaku?
Because it’s large enough to fit around 857 tatami mats, which roughly equals “1,000 tatami.”
Inside, you’ll also find many huge ema (wooden votive tablets).

Many were moved here from the corridors of Itsukushima Shrine during the Meiji era, so you can see an impressive collection all in one place.
